Internal Grants

Two internal grant programs are available through the Office of Research:

  • The University Research Council (URC) Grants program offers grants of up to $5,000 to support the research and creative endeavors of Appalachian State University faculty in all disciplines. Two annual deadlines, in mid-October for projects beginning in January or later and in early March for projects beginning in May or later.
  • The Board of Trustees International Research Grant Program provides travel funds of up to $2,500 to faculty members whose research projects require travel outside the United States. Proposals for research in both basic and applied/professional fields are welcome. These awards will fund foreign travel to libraries, archives, museums, laboratories, computer facilities, natural settings, government agencies, corporations, etc. that is essential to the research described in the proposal. One annual deadline in early February.

See the Office of Research Internal Grants page for more information about these programs.

The Sustainability Council offers Sustainability in the Arts grants. The Council encourages non-traditional applicants from any discipline. The purpose of the grants is to raise awareness of sustainability through art. The competition is open to students, faculty, staff and administration and welcomes any media. See for more information.
